I wasn’t born into the cowboy life, but there’s no denying it runs deep in my veins. The moment I turned 18, I packed up and headed west to learn the art of cowboying. Now, at 30, I can’t imagine doing anything else.

I live for riding the big circle, working cattle, and training border collies. I wouldn’t trade a single day trudging through mud or snow, frozen stiff from the cold, soaked by pouring rain, or trotting out before sunrise to beat the heat. Even the hardest days are worth it for the moments of pure gratitude—when you’re riding mile after mile and feel completely at peace with where you are and who you’ve become.

There’s something sacred in pushing past fear to get back on a horse that’s bucked you off more than once, and something grounding in stepping onto a mount you trust with everything. The wild country, the ever-changing flowers, the unexpected wildlife—it feeds my soul.

I’ve been incredibly lucky to cross paths with skilled and generous cowboys and cowgirls who took the time to share their knowledge and help shape me into the hand I am today. I’m always learning—grateful for every lesson, big or small—because the more you know in this life, the more you realize there’s still so much to learn.
