I got to become a cowgirl all on my own. My family wasn’t into horses at all. My dad bought me my first horse, and that horse quickly became my best friend. We did everything together. After he passed suddenly of a colic, I gave up riding to pursue other things. I was sad and angry and couldn’t quite figure out why. Sam came into my life again when I was 18 and I went to work with her. She taught me everything about the cowgirl way, not just with horses, but with life. To live in a way of integrity and honesty. To strive to always be my true authentic self. And to learn from the horses.. they know how to show you what they need. And I believe that translates fully to life as well. Listen, don’t judge, try to understand.
